Motivational Monday-Top Tips on Embracing Happiness

Lets talk failure, unexpected changes and plans that just dont go the way you hoped they would.

I've had personal experience of this many times and I dont think any human has ever gone through life without their plans going wrong and life taking them somewhere they weren't expecting from time to time.

As Robert Burns so aptly puts it

'The best made plans of mice and men often go awry

Essentially it doesn't matter how carefully we plan out every detail of our lives something is bound to happen at some point to upset them and to lead you down a different course.

It is how we deal with these setbacks and changes that develops us as individuals and shapes the people we become. Its very often easy to become withdrawn and introverted when our plan go wrong, its not unusual to feel hurt, lost confused. What this quote speaks in volume is to find happiness in even the smallest areas of your life. Embrace even the aspects that may seem insignificant, because in those moments of hardship and confusion it is these seemingly insignificant moments of joy that could keep you afloat and lead you back on track.

Please if you are at a period of life where you dont know which way to turn, dont beat yourself up worrying, be gentle with yourself and just remember to enjoy being. Whether that takes the form of a how bubbly bath on a rainy autumnal day, or a moment of peace admiring the beauty of golden leaves falling from the trees, or the feeling of endorphin's as you finish a difficult workout. Find those moments in your life and remember their value. These moments are just as important as the seemingly huge life decision you may have to make because at the end of the day its all time, and your far better using it to enjoy and admire life than to sit worrying about what should or could have been.

Happy Monday Lovelies and have an incredible week enjoying the smallest moments

The Fashion Edit: Why you need to be wearing RED

This autumn winter look out for red, it was all over the catwalks and is making a fashion comeback in a big way.

One style tip its so important to remember when transitioning seasons is to use the next season colours and patterns in the current seasons texture.

Summer season is all about lighter fabrics and off the shoulder bardot, by mixing these with next seasons hot colour you are acknowledging both. Look out for pieces that combine a nod to both seasons and you'll be right on trend.
If you are anything like me you will already be going mad in the shops, looking out for the perfect pieces to make up your autumn winter wardrobe and red is making a big comeback...which I love!

This play-suit from zaful is my baby at the moment, I love it and its so perfect for the change in season. Accessories make an outfit, so I paired it with a hand piece and a 3 tier necklace...who else is loving layering their jewellery at the moment? I really recommend having a look at their pieces they are incredibly affordable and right on trend, shipping is fast and the products I've received have been great quality and fit to size!

What trends have you loved from spring summer and what are you looking forward to wearing in Autumn Winter?

Motivational Monday #7 Does Progression take Patience?

There are a few things I wanted to discuss in this weeks post that have come up over the last week, and I just wanted to see what other peoples thoughts were on them.

Initially I wanted to discuss progress. Often we think of progress as moving forward, getting closer to our goal and making an achievement. But what if this is just the end result?
Personally I think of progress as something that is ongoing and involves not just success but also failure. When you don't achieve you learn. All to often we dont try things for a fear of getting it wrong or failing, but this is all part of progression. We have to try things and then stick at them through failure, making those mistakes in order to move forward, to learn. We can then make changes, and try again. Its only after all this hard work that success can be achieved.

This links to the second point that I wanted to discuss in this blog post and that involves patience. This is the area where I really struggle. Im not scared of starting something new but I am impatient. I want to be the best at whatever I try straight away, I want to get stuck in and be succeeding. This isnt always possible and often we have to work hard for many years before we see any result. I will tend to want to give something up quickly, because I'm so keen to move onto the next idea in my head. Although its great to have a lot of goals and be keen to achieve them all sometimes success comes from patience and keeping going at one goal until its been achieved, through failure and success.

Do you take opportunities when they come or do you put them off because of a fear of failure preventing progression, or do you take that first step and then become impatient? I'd love to know people thoughts on these topics! Message me your thoughts +Emily Isobelle Jane or on facebook and let me know your thoughts!

WTF Friday Cullots and Trousers

When someone says the word culotte to me I just think back to my days as a brownie. Anyone else who like me was a proud brownie for most of their childhood will remember the beautiful brown culottes that we had to wear...I wasn't a fan then and NEVER did I think these alien shorts that looked like a skirt make it into fashion. BUT...this summer trousers and culottes are right on trend and I have to admit, its a trend I absolutely LOVE.

Today I've scouted out my top three pieces from ZARA, let me know what you think!

ZARA
Zara is my no.1 go to for affordable fashion and they dont dissapoint on the trouser front. I recently bought a pair of 7/8th polkadot trousers in zara for just £10!! They have so many lovely pieces in there at the moment.

Which are you favourites?

Motivational Monday #5 You Do You

Initially for todays post I wanted to share a quote that has become so important to me in the last two years. Arguably I've made decisions that are questionable to people outside of those who understand me and know exactly what I've gone through. I've chosen to leave a degree at a university I love, to move away from friends and to teach myself an A-level. These are all huge choices to make. But they have led me to a place where I finally know I'm on the right road and this makes me so so happy. I'm doing what I love and no amount of other peoples thoughts and opinions can change that or make me question my choices.
So today I encourage you to...
Go out of your comfort zone, make choices for yourself and inspire others to do the same!!
Have an amazing Monday everyone <3

WTF Friday: Dress Burgundy

I am bringing a new series to my blog called Whats The Fashion Friday (WTF Friday-see what I did there). Today's theme is dress burgundy. Anyone who knows me knows I am a huge fan of burgundy... my friend recently came back from Spain with friendship bracelets for my group of friends, with a different colour for each of us, and of course mine was the burgundy one. As burgundy is so on trend this summer I have been working through the Zaful website to find my favourite burgundy pieces and have selected my top 3:

NO.1
Play-suits/Rompers are so on trend at the moment and I love them! This one is perfect for summer 2017 with off the shoulder sleeves and a neck band....anyone else obsessed with this trend? Every top I currently wear is off the shoulder I find it so flattering. This play-suit is also perfect for anyone looking to draw in their waist, with a tie to draw you in and break up the outfit. Flares are also a massive must have this season and the flared sleeves on this romper make it right on style.
You could easily dress this up with a gold choker, earrings and heals,or casual it up with a pair of sandals, a material choker and sunnies.
Zaful have kindly given my readers a 10% discount, so if you fancy styling this piece use the code below! If you do get this piece please send me a pick to show me how you style it I love to see everyone's individual styles. I'm thinking I may wear this to my cousins wedding party next month!
It’s Romper season. Click for Best ideas of floral rompers.

For my second choice, I have picked this gorgeous off the shoulder dress. This is definitely the simplest of the three items I've picked out but its still so in style. This is the perfect dress for a sunny day, layered over your fave bikini with a pair of bright sandals and sunnies. dressed like this are the perfect canvas to pair with bright pattered accessories, and I'd definitely recommend a bright belt round the waist to draw you in at the middle. The sleeves are again flared and I love the simple cut out design!

My third piece is a maxi dress, this meets so many trends in one piece, what more could you want. Not only is it off the shoulder but floral are also big in this summer. Due to being a large floral print, you can so easily accessories this piece with very simple jewellery. I love layered necklaces with an off the shoulder neckline, and lots of rings. You could pair this piece easily with a pair of burgundy or fawn strappy sandals, or take it into the evening with a pair of heals and an arm cuff.

I'd love to know what you think of the pieces in this post, send me any pics if you style any of the above! Also contact me if you have any requests for trends to be covered in another WTF Friday post! Hope you have an amazing Friday!

Top Tips to Loose Weight-Based on Science

So anyone who is a regular at my blog will know my journey has been all about weight gain, but my understanding of nutrition, health and diet doesn't just cover weight gain and so I thought I would write a post for all you lovely people out there who are looking to shed a few lbs.

Initially, I would like to say please make sure you are loosing weight for the right reasons, if you feel you are a healthy weight and are looking to loose weight that is lower than what you know is healthy for you then I would highly encourage you to look at the mind website which covers all aspects of eating problems with self help and contacts.

This blog post is based on a scientific background, I have studied biology to a level and am now training as a nurse which has a highly scientific anatomy and physiology element.I have also spent a year under the eye of an accredited dietitian and have learnt a lot through her, all these tips will be based on what I have learnt and what I can pass on, please dont follow fad diets that dont have evidence to back them up they could do more damage then good!

TOP TIPS TO LOOSE WEIGHT:
1) Work out your basal metabolic rate- there are many calculators available online which can be used to work this out and this will give you a rough idea of what you should be eating to maintain a healthy weight.

2) Work out your daily calorie intake- Initially it is a good idea to keep a food diary either by journal or phone and roughly work out your daily intake of calories, it may be worth weighing portions just for a couple of days to get this as accurate as you can...but PLEASE dont stress over getting it exact!

3) Work an approximate weekly or daily calorie intake-In order to loose a lb a week most people will need to loose around 3,500 calories from their diet a week (around 500 cals a day). If this is going to take your calorie intake under 1,200 please consider a slower weight loss route, maybe 1/2 lb a week. If you begin to restrict calories too much your basal metabolic rate will drop. This will make loosing weight extremely hard as your body works more slowly to hold onto fat!

4) Work out meals you love that fit your daily calorie intake and leave a few spare for healthy snacks! For example if your daily goal is 1,200 calories eat 300 at breakfast, and lunch, 400 at dinner and have 200 for a couple of 100 calorie snack or one larger 200 calorie snack.

5) Healthy snacks:
Apples-these are not too sweet and release sugar more slowly into the blood stream lessening the sugar spike they have a fibrous skin which some of the sugar sticks to preventing it from being digested too quickly and causing a sugar spike and then slump!
Pears these are another great fruit to eat due to similar reasons as above!
Blueberries, these are packed full of anti oxidants that will help remove toxins from your system and keep you feeling healthy!
If you want a treat opt for popcorn which is just salted gain we want to prevent sugar spikes which can lead to you feeling hungry and tired, and try making healthy home bakes using egg, wholewheat flour, vanilla, almond milk and stevia- I have some great low cal recipes on my instagram

6) If you are a snacker separate your meals into snack sized portions and pick at those throughout the day.
There is nothing wrong with snacking and there is evidence that it can keep your basal metabolic rate high, you just need to make sure you are staying within your goals and snacking on the right foods.

7) Find a good fitness plan that you love! In order to keep that basal metabolic rate up you need exercise! This promotes muscle preservation and muscle keeps that rate higher, it will also help to burn a few extra calories to help you on your way. Anyone who knows me knows my love for a Lucy Whydnam-Read work out which I have linked, they are super quick, are appropriate for all fitness levels, are easy to follow and she gets amazing results! Shes qualified and knows her stuff! But if home work outs arent for you get walking, swimming, cycling, dancing, or lifting weights anything that gets that booty moving!

I hope these tips are helpful to you and best of luck with your health journey! Please share this if you like it and spread the message of health and positivity and none of these unhealthy fad diets!

Love Emily xx
